Need a pick-me-up? Sugar vs Protein

In a recent study done by the people of Neuron Journal, they have linked the excitatory reaction of protein consumption and digestion to be higher than that of sugar. This is a breakthrough study since the stereotype of sugar is that it makes you, or better yet, your kids hyper! In fact, protein not only stimulates the neural cells responsible for keeping you alert, but also stimulates the cells that help regulate your metabolism by burning calories.

So, if you didn't get a good night's sleep, or are starting to have that "2:30 feeling" don't reach for the sugar-laden coke or candy bar. Instead grab yourself a protein shake, handful of nuts, or even some jerky if you're really in a rush. Not only will you feel better, but you'll perform better, and look better.
